Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 September 2026
This policy explains what CannabisReset does with your information. The short version: there is no account, we never ask for your email, and almost nothing you do in the app leaves your phone. We take this seriously because the app deals with drug use and mental health, which are yours to keep private.
01
What we collect
Information you provide, kept on your device only. Your first name, your quit date, your reasons, the letter you write to yourself, your daily check-ins, which recordings you have played, and your conversations with the companion are stored only inside the app on your phone. We have no server that holds them and we cannot see them.
Information that leaves your device, when you use the companion. Each message you send goes to our server and on to an AI provider to write the reply. To make that reply fit you, it travels with context the app already holds: your first name if you gave one, how many days you are into your reset, the age range and answers you chose at setup, your reasons, today's and recent check-in moods, which tools helped or didn't, one short line from your letter, and a running summary the AI has written of your earlier conversations. If you tap Listen on a reply, its text is sent to a voice provider to be read aloud. If you dictate, the audio clip is sent to be turned into text. None of this is stored by us: it is used for that one request and discarded.
Payments. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, Google and RevenueCat. RevenueCat gives your device an anonymous identifier so the app can check whether a membership is active. It is not linked to your name or email, because we hold neither.
What we do not collect. No email address, no account, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites, no location, no contacts, no photos.
02
How we use it
- To run the programme, the check-ins and the counters, entirely on your device.
- To generate companion replies and turn dictated speech into text, per request, and then discard it.
- To check that a membership is active.
- To schedule the reminders you ask for. These are local notifications created on your phone; nothing is sent to us.
03
AI processing and consent
The companion is an AI grounded in The Quit Cannabis Handbook. Your messages are sent to OpenRouter, an AI routing gateway, which forwards them to Anthropic (Claude) to write the reply. Dictated audio is routed the same way to Google (Gemini) for transcription only. Both providers state that data sent through their APIs is not used to train their models, and that it may be retained for a short period for abuse monitoring before deletion.
The app tells you this before you first use the companion, and you can always type instead of dictating. If you would rather nothing left your phone, the programme recordings, the toolbox, your check-ins and your counters all work without the companion.
04
Crisis messages
If a message suggests you may be in danger, the companion replies with crisis phone numbers instead of a normal answer. That check runs on our server and, like every other message, the text is not stored. We are not a crisis service and cannot contact anyone on your behalf.
05
Third-party services
- OpenRouter — AI gateway. Receives chat text and dictation audio, per request.
- Anthropic (Claude) — writes companion replies, via OpenRouter.
- Google (Gemini) — transcribes dictation, via OpenRouter.
- ElevenLabs — reads companion replies aloud when you tap Listen. Receives the reply text only.
- Capgo — delivers app updates. Receives an anonymous device identifier and app version when the app checks for one.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Anonymous device identifier and purchase receipt data; our server also asks RevenueCat whether that identifier has an active membership before the companion answers.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — distribution and in-app purchases, under their own policies.
- Vercel — hosts our server. Sees request metadata such as IP address in transit.
We never sell, rent or share anything you write. There are no advertising or analytics providers.

Your rights
Access and deletion are in your hands. Everything is on your phone. To delete it, open the You tab and choose Delete everything. Because we hold nothing on a server, there is nothing else to delete and no request to make.
Under the GDPR. CannabisReset is operated from France. If you are in the EEA you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to the CNIL at cnil.fr. Our legal bases are consent (for AI processing of your messages) and performance of a contract (to provide the service). To exercise any right, email hello@getcannabisreset.com.
California. You have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what is collected and to request deletion.
07
Data retention
- Your data: as long as the app is on your phone, or until you delete it.
- Chat messages and dictation audio: not stored by us. Providers may hold them briefly for abuse monitoring, then delete them.
- Purchase records: held by Apple, Google and RevenueCat under their own terms.
08
Children
CannabisReset is for adults only. If you tell the app you are under 18 during setup, it stops there and points you to services built for younger people. Nothing you typed is kept.
09
Not medical care
CannabisReset is a companion to a book. It is not a medical device, a treatment or a substitute for a doctor, a therapist or a crisis service. If you are unwell or take medication, talk to your GP before changing anything. If you are in danger, call 999 (UK), 112 (EU), 911 (US) or your local emergency number.
